Mystery Fish #2 Updates!
From responses it appears to be some type of Croaker, but the stripes and mouth placement are still not agreed upon, the following explanation is the most recent from: Marty Wittman
No doubt about it. It is the infamous suck weed bass. It originated in Botswana, Columbia and was brought to Louisiana by early settlers. The fish was to be used for fertilizer, but failed to produce the expected results. The "suck" as it is often called, has a oily flavor and must be eaten with red wine, to counter act the "rich" flavor. The "suck" was thought to be extinct but you have proved that some are still biting.
